Hello everyone. It’s been a while since we posted anything, but I must say we are very excited that the documentary you’ve been waiting for will premiere on WKAR in East Lansing on December 27 at 9pm. The film is 51 minutes long.
Sue wrote a great script and you will see how the people of Malawi live and learn all about their culture. You will see the struggle to understand Malaria and how Michigan State University continues groundbreaking research, led by Dr. Terrie Taylor.
I spent probably more than 100 hours in the past week and a half editing the film and I’m very pleased with the outcome. My hope is that you we can take you along on our journey that Sue Carter and I took last March. We want to make you feel as if you were there alongside us, sharing in the uplifting moments, as well as the difficult ones.
We hope to announce DVD sales soon as well as screening opportunities in East Lansing first (sometime in January) and moving around Michigan after that.
We know many outside the East Lansing area are very excited to see the documentary and we are excited to show it.
Additionally, we have just started a facebook community page. Please see us there and tell your friends to “like” it.
Please post your comments here when you watch the film. We would love to hear feedback from you.

Dear Bob and Sue,
As I flipped through the television channels I had to go back…..I thought I was myself on TV…..sure did! I was buying garlic nali in Malawi on Channel 10 in Lansing LOL!! Kinda random that I stumbled upon the documentary the first night it premiered! I enjoyed my post-call night in my living room (decorated with many carvings from the Malawi market) enjoying a glass of wine watching the documentary! Brought back some great memories that seem so far away already. I am now an anesthesia resident at Ingham in Lansing, one of my attendings and a surgeon go to Africa every year for two weeks to perform surgeries and anesthesia for people……I am so going with them in a few years……they just don’t know it yet!! I have another 3 1/2 years to convince them to take me with them…..I miss Africa!! Keep us updated, I would love to buy a few copies of the documentary for myself and some family!! Once again, BRAVO! Enjoyed it so much!
Sincerely,
Lisa Siebert
Awesome, Lisa!
I wish I had all of your contact info so I could’ve emailed you guys before it aired. I was re-living the whole trip while I was editing and was hoping somebody was watching! What great luck that you were flipping through and saw yourself! I hope you got a chance to see a good portion of it. WKAR will be re-airing it in mid-January, plus we are planning a campus screening somewhere live…stay tuned!
And congrats on the gig at Ingham…keep in touch so I can invite you to the campus screening…find my contact info on facebook or on the MSU website.
